How much Cure It ONE will my roof need?

The amount depends on what you're laying over. Smooth, sealed surfaces take the least; rough or porous ones soak up more. Use the table below as a starting point.

Figures are based on Cure It's own usage guide and include all three stages: the base coat, the coat that wets out the mat, and the final wash coat. *Concrete must be primed before laying – see our Cure It Concrete Primer.

Laying Cure It ONE – the 3 stages

1. Prep and trims. Fix your GRP edge trims in place. Cut bandage ready for the trim joints and corners, and cut your matting to size, allowing a 50mm overlap on the feathered edges.
2. Details first. Stir the hardener pack thoroughly into the resin. Using a 3" roller, coat the line where trims meet the deck, press the bandage into the wet resin, then coat over the trims themselves.
3. Lay the main roof. Work in manageable 1m² areas: roll resin onto the deck, lay the mat on top, then keep rolling resin in until the fibres break down and the mat goes clear. Finish with a light wash coat – that's your final surface. Only lay in dry conditions.

What else goes into the job

• Cure It ONE hardener – matched to the 18kg tub. Check the pack label for the right grade and number of packs for the temperature on the day.
• 450g reinforcement matting – standard chopped strand mat works, but use genuine Cure It mat if you want the manufacturer's materials guarantee.
• GRP edge trims and trim adhesive – for drip edges, upstands and details.
• Tools – resin rollers, a 3" detail roller, a mixing paddle and acetone for clean-up.

The 20-year materials guarantee explained

Cure It back the materials for 20 years, provided the full Cure It system is used – Cure It ONE resin, Cure It mat, Cure It hardener and Cure It edge trims – and it's laid to their installation guide on a sound, dry, properly prepared deck. The guarantee sits between the installer and Cure It, and the installer also has to offer their own 20-year workmanship guarantee. Full terms are available from Cure It.

Common questions

Can I lay it straight over my old felt roof?
In most cases, yes – as long as the felt is sound and stuck down well. Clear off any moss and loose chippings, and repair any blisters or damaged areas first. Not sure about yours? Email us a photo and we'll tell you.

Do I need a topcoat?
No. Cure It ONE is a single-coat system – the final wash coat over the mat is the finished roof.

Do I need a primer?
Not on OSB, felt, asphalt, existing GRP or foil-faced PIR. Only concrete needs priming.

Can I lay it in winter?
Yes, as long as it's dry. Use the Winter (Cool) hardener, and add an accelerator pack when it's 8°C or colder. Moisture ruins the cure, so never lay in rain or onto a damp deck.
