Two new products landed in our range this week. One sorts out the roof over your head, the other sorts out the floor under your feet, and both come with the kind of guarantee that lets you fit it once and forget about it. Tekshield GRP Roof Kits: 20-Year Guarantee, 16m² to 100m² The Tekshield 450g kit is our newest complete GRP roofing system. If you're new to fibreglass, our full guide to GRP covers the basics, but in short: GRP is applied cold as a liquid resin reinforced with glass fibre matting, and it cures into one continuous surface with no joints or laps for water to work under. That's why it has become the go-to replacement for tired felt roofs across the UK. Tekshield comes in ten sizes from 16m² to 100m², so whether you're covering a garden office, a garage or a full extension, there's a kit matched closely to the actual area rather than a size up you'll pay extra for. Prices run from £326.72 to £1,530. If you're not sure what your roof measures once upstands and trims are counted, our GRP kit calculator will do the maths, and you can see how GRP stacks up against other systems in our cost per m² comparison. The curing system that takes the guesswork out Most resins give you no sign they've cured. You end up pressing a thumb into the edge every half hour and hoping you're reading it right, and plenty of DIY fibreglass roofs fail because the topcoat went on too soon. Tekshield's resin changes colour as it cures, so you can look at the roof and know whether it's ready for topcoat or needs another hour. The resin itself is a premium polyester with a thixotropic formula. Thixotropic sounds technical but it describes something simple: the resin thickens when left alone, so it won't slide down upstands, kerbs or pitched sections while it cures. Those details are usually where a flat roof fails first, and they only stay watertight if the resin holds its thickness there rather than pooling at the bottom. The 450g mat wets out quickly too, and the resin is low odour, something you'll appreciate if you're working near the neighbours' open windows. It's finished with an Iron Grey topcoat (RAL 7011) that goes on by brush or roller and carries the UV protection that keeps the laminate underneath out of the sun for the long haul. At a glance: Ten kit sizes from 16m² to 100m², priced from £326.72 to £1,530 Colour-change curing so you can see when the resin has gone off Thixotropic virgin-grade resin that holds on pitched and vertical sections Fast wet-out with the 450g mat, low odour during application Iron Grey (RAL 7011) UV-resistant topcoat, brush or roller applied 20-year material guarantee when correctly installed Is a 450g kit right for your roof? Worth knowing before you order: as a 450g system, Tekshield is designed for standard flat roofs rather than balconies, walkways or roofs with regular foot traffic. If your roof doubles as a terrace, our heavy-duty 600g kits or double layer balcony kits are built for exactly that job. Contact us for the full guarantee conditions. KoverTek TekTuff Epoxy Floor Paint: Garage Floors That Stay Looking New The second new arrival takes us indoors. KoverTek TekTuff is a 100% solids, two-part epoxy floor paint for garages, workshops, showrooms and commercial floors that take a beating. If you've painted a garage floor with ordinary floor paint, you'll know how it ends: great for six months, then hot tyres and oil drips start peeling it back to bare concrete. Standard paint just dries on the surface. TekTuff is a two-part epoxy. Mix the coating with the activator, roll it on, and that's the job. It cures hard and bonds into the concrete instead of drying on top of it, which is why normal floor paint peels after a year and this doesn't. Oil and fuel wipe straight off. Dropped tools don't mark it. And there's no solvent in the mix to evaporate off, so the coat doesn't shrink or thin out as it dries. 100% of what goes in the tray ends up on the floor. Made for indoor use TekTuff uses a low VOC formulation, so the smell during application is minimal, a real advantage in an attached garage or indoor commercial space. It's an interior product for dry surfaces only, and prep matters: epoxy bonds to concrete, not to dust, oil or damp, so a clean, dry floor is what earns you the 5-year guarantee. If damp is coming from above, our guide on moisture damage to ceilings and walls is worth a read before you spend anything on the floor. The essentials: Two-part epoxy, mixed just before application 100% solids, so the full thickness you apply stays on the floor Low VOC and low odour, suitable for indoor and attached spaces Resists oil, fuel, spills and daily impacts Interior use on clean, dry surfaces 5-year guarantee Colours include light grey, dark grey, red and blue, and it comes in three sizes: 5kg at £126.74, 10kg at £232.74 and 20kg at £431.50, covering everything from a single garage to a larger commercial floor.
